I grew up about sixty miles North of Spokane, Washington in a place called Summit Valley. I attended Summit Valley School (a two-room schoolhouse) from first to sixth grades (which is still used today for preschool classes).
When I graduated from high school I worked a variety of jobs from managing a movie theatre to being a summer camp director while getting an AA degree from Spokane Falls Community College.
In 1998 I moved to Provo and began work as a PE teacher while I attended Brigham Young University. In 2000 I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and have since taught third, fourth, and sixth grades. I am currently a fifth grade teacher, and love working with my students. In 2006 I graduated with a Master's degree in technology from Walden University.
My brothers and sisters currently live in Washington, Idaho, Missouri, New York, and Utah. |
| My personal interests include playing guitar, hiking, writing, photography, video editing, American Sign Language, rollerblading, and mentoring. I also work at ComedySportz, a clean, family-friendly improvisional comedy troupe in Provo.
I love to read. A few of my favorite books are; A Return to Christmas by Chris Heimerdinger, Time for Andrew by Mary Downing-Hahn, and The Boys Start the War Series by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. My favorite picture book author is Bill Peet though one of my favorite books is The Salamander Room by Anne Mazer.
As for music, I am really partial to the musical sounds of Vertical Horizon, John Mayer, Rob Thomas, Howard Jones, and Nickel Creek. In fact, I attended a concert Nickel Creek had at the Salt Lake Abravanel Hall. I was absolutely amazed at the quality of the show they gave.
